Imagine this: a high school business class, a teacher noticing me sketching away on my computer instead of listening. But instead of reprimanding me, he pointed me towards the school’s web design program. Fast forward a couple months, and there I was, crafting and managing websites for Wayne Township. Designing live websites for my school district was my first taste of what it meant to build something with purpose, creativity, and reach. That early experience ignited a fascination with the web’s potential to communicate with the world—a passion that still fuels my work today.
After earning my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Visual Communication Design from the University of Indianapolis, my career unfolded like a series of adventures. I’ve designed websites for legends like Jackie Robinson and Redd Foxx, overhauled web presences for local radio stations, and even co-founded a startup to help indie authors publish their work online. Each role expanded my expertise, from web design and front-end development to user research and UX strategy. These diverse experiences ultimately shaped the foundation for my current leadership role.
In 2018, I took my passion for design to the next level by earning a Master’s Degree in Human-Computer Interaction—a field that bridges psychology, technology, and design. This advanced education sharpened my ability to understand user behavior and craft intuitive, impactful experiences. It also deepened my commitment to merging human needs with digital innovation, which remains at the heart of everything I do.
Leading with Passion
As a leader, I believe respect and excellence go hand in hand. My leadership philosophy revolves around creating an environment where my team feels supported, challenged, and inspired to take risks in pursuit of ambitious goals. Feedback isn’t just a tool; it’s a gift—a way to grow individually and as a team. I’ve found that investing in people and helping them succeed always leads to shared success. This approach has helped me foster strong, high-performing teams that thrive under pressure and deliver results.
Beyond the Screen
When I’m not immersed in the world of design, I enjoy spending quality time with my wife, Leslie, our two daughters, and our two furry companions. Beyond family life, I have a knack for picking up new skills and diving into history. During the pandemic, I discovered a green thumb and started growing plants, which has since become a source of calm and joy. I’m also into fishing, hiking, and archery—activities that let me disconnect, recharge, and find inspiration for the challenges ahead.
What I’m Up to Right Now
Currently, I’m the User Experience Practice Manager at Insight, leading a dynamic national team of 16 professionals. My role involves setting benchmarks for quality and guiding designers in executing projects for Fortune 100 clients, along with running the business to improve operational efficiencies and hit quarterly and annual revenue and gross profit goals.
